Pat’s Slick Fork Saddle

Over the years, Pat has developed what he considers to be the ideal wade saddle. We've worked with our friend and partner at Rancho Mentada along with a saddle maker in Chihuahua Mexico to perfect the design and we've come up with a no frills saddle that works for the vast majority of horses. It's a rough out saddle built on a rawhide bound wooden Wade tree with the following features:

  • a flat plate 5/8 rigging

  • a 4 inch Guadalajara style horn with muleskin

  • a 4 inch cantle with a rawhide bound Cheyenne roll

  • 4 inch Monel stirrups with turned stirrup leathers

  • Comes fully rigged with off side billet and near side latigo

  • Matching 3-piece breast collar

That's it. The good news is the price and the time frame. You don't have to wait years to get your new saddle and you don't have to take out a second mortgage on your house. It takes around 3 months from placing your order to riding in your new saddle.

The price is $3300 plus shipping. We are now offering two ways to purchase this saddle:

The first is to fill out the form below and designate how you would like to pay your deposit of $1900: Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or check. Then I’ll send you the information on how to pay. The balance of $1400 plus the cost of shipping is due when your saddle is ready. Just fill out the form at the bottom of the page to get started!

The second method is to buy the saddle outright by going to our Store to complete your purchase there. When the saddle is finished, I’ll calculate the shipping charges and you’ll pay those with a check, PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle.

Shipping charges vary based on location. Yes, we have shipped saddles all over the world from Belgium to Australia. For international orders, please do your research to determine what you’ll owe in Customs charges.

*A brief word about roughout saddles:

When you first get your new saddle, it will be lighter in color. With use, exposure to sunlight, and application of a saddle butter of your choice (we prefer Obenauf’s Leather Preservative), your saddle will develop a darker, richer color. We do not offer any other color than the natural roughout and we do not recommend dying this type of saddle.
